My Thoughts: I don't drink coffee. I don't know the difference between one latte and another. I am a heavy hot chocolate drinker. We meet Jane who works as a barista at a coffee shop. She goes to school (or doesn't most of the time) and is saving up money for college. She also has the luxury of working with her best friend Em in the coffee shop. She starts to keep a notebook of drinks everyone orders and starts pairing people up with each other based on their drinks. She's rather bored at her job and it's just something fun and extra to do. She starts going back to school (after Em requests it) and gets close to a guy named Cam. But she doesn't like Cam that way so she hooks him up with Em. Em just got out of a long relationship so Jane thinks this is the perfect solution. Of course Jane also has her eye set on Will who is a college boy that visits to get coffee.Mean girl Melissa visits the coffee shop and makes fun of Jane every chance she gets. They went to school together, Melissa was older so now she's already in college.
I didn't like Will at all. I felt like the whole time he was using Jane to get free coffee. He charmed it right out of her most of the time. That bugged me how it went right over her head. I really did like Cam though. He was a sweet guy and he was really a lovable character. I liked Jane and Em's relationship and how they wouldn't let anything come between them. Derek- Jane's boss was also pretty cool. Yes, he was a pain but I enjoyed him.
Well, after Derek hears about Jane's qualities as a matchmaker he makes it into a 4 week Friday night business venture where customers could come in, order a drink, and get matched. I loved this aspect. I loved seeing Jane's relationships evolve, I loved seeing her match people together especially the couples she choose to match.
I really enjoyed reading The Espressologist. It was a short fun read with a great cast of characters from Jane to Derek to Cam to Em. Even if your not a coffee person, this book is full of fun! I did learn quite a bit about different drinks though. I didn't even know some of them existed and they make me want to try them!
Overall: A fun cute awesome book! I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a light and fun read!
Cover: Love it! The coffee is what made me want to read this one! Even the drink looks really good!

The Espressologist Kristina Springer Books Reviews
A fun read with a few interesting lessons woven in. Great for the
"tween" and up!
This is such a cute book. I was intrigued by the coffee aspect. It's super quick and light to read. A nice book for the holidays.
Kristina Springer's The Espressologist, is a cute and rather "love-spiring" story. Though the main character, Jane, seemed a little bland and boring at first, she grew some through the book. Springer definitely know how to captivate the minds of her readers in the story. If there were an espressologist at my local coffee shop I would hope she'd be just as wonderful as Jane.
It was really cute. It's very well written and true to how I remember being as a high school girl it's a very cute , original story
This was an okay book. I completely fell in love with the premise, and the characters had a lot of potential, but I think the author really leaned on the fact that this is a young adult novel. It felt flat, and the main characters were pretty overdramatic and not well rounded at all. Every little thing was treated as a life-or-death matter, and it got obnoxious. It made me care about the characters a whole lot less. I give this book 3 stars since the concept was so cute, but the execution was disappointing at best.
I should probably say this is one of the most original stories I've ever read, I'm sure of it. I absolutely LOVE the idea of Espressology, it's awesome! I mean, who doesn't think that being able to find love is easy, that you just have to have a drink, is cool? Or incredible, even?
But, fashion? Come on! Jane didn't seem like the fashion type AT ALL. With all her notes and observations, she sounded more like a future psychologist.
Other thing- her relationship with Cam, I didn't get that either. I love books where the gooey, sentimental parts where they (finally) get together are just in the end, and have an open end, and this was one of them, but HOW DID THEY GET THAT WAY?! It's not as if the book were filled with Jane's sighs and Cam's sighs and love notes! PAH-LEASE! (I can't believe I just wrote this either.) You just find everything out in the very end, well, that didn't make much sense.
I'd like to meet Jane, though, if she were real, I mean. I liked of what I got to know about her. Cam too, I guess. I loved Gavin too, though he didn't appear much, he seemed fantastic. Will, though...err...I didn't like Will at first, I didn't like him in the end. I had to say that.
But despite all that, it was still a pretty good book, so I do recommend this if you're looking for an interesting and original book that has no vampires in it.
This book was absolutely adorable. Jane is a teenage barista for Wired Joe's (a thinly disguised Starbucks) in this cute coffeeshop adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma. Bored at work, she keeps a notebook of coffee drinks and the types of personalities who order them. When it strikes her that a 'medium iced vanilla latte' (a friend of a friend) would be perfect for a 'medium dry cappuccino (a sexy regular at the shop), her Espressology practice begins. Soon her surly boss makes her a Friday night attraction - but while Jane is busy setting everyone else up, can she find a love of her own?
Yes, of course she can, because this is fluffy 'chick lit.' It's predictable, sweet, and perfectly entertaining. I could practically smell the lattes as Jane described the various drink orders, and I was disappointed to finish at 3am, long after the local Starbucks had closed! Despite the brevity of the novel (184 pages), the characters seem like real people - probably because you recognize them from your own local coffeeshop. The author wrote the book while ensconced in a table at Starbucks, observing the baristas and locals and working them into her narrative. The 'Emma' connection is subtle and never feels forced.
Thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended if you're looking for a pleasant way to spend the afternoon, preferably with coffee drink in hand )
